SEA GOODS

Handmade Goods From the Sea...

Our Story...
Welcome to Sea Goods!
We hand collect each and every one of the SEA GOODS shells we paint and decorate from beaches on Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Our shells come from the less crowded parts of Crane Beach in Ipswich and Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. Because these are hard-to-reach beaches, we find the largest clam shells that wash up on Cape Ann.
And for oyster shells and sea glass, we take our boat to a small rocky beach called Sea Glass Beach in Gloucester.
Our Shells...
To begin, we soak our shells in bleach for 5 days and then scrub them down. We then allow the shells to dry in the sun before applying a base primer coat of paint. After sanding the edges, we decoupage our large clam shells and hand-paint our oyster shells. Multiple coats of sealant are then applied and allowed to dry. As a final step, we finish every shell with 14k gold leaf paint on the edges.

Little Fish...
Inspired by the sea, our little clay fish are handcrafted and painted and then made into necklaces, wall hangings, or decorations.

Oyster Salt & Pepper Cellar Boxes
Oyster shells found on certain beaches in Cape Ann are hand painted for use as salt & pepper cellars. Each box contains oyster cellars, salt & pepper starter set, and two small brass spoons.
